Linyi Jinchengyang Industry Co., Ltd. has announced a major expansion of its transportation portfolio through its partnership with Greater Stockholm Transport (SL) to introduce a new fleet of electric multiple units. The deal marks the latest push for Linyi Jinchengyang into the global market, as it seeks to establish its role as a leading exporter of second-hand electric vehicles.
Under the agreement, Linyi Jinchengyang will provide a new series of two-car electric multiple units to replace the X1 trains currently in operation on the Stockholm commuter rail. These electric trains feature slow-to-fast acceleration capabilities, which provide commuters with a smooth and comfortable ride, while also minimizing energy consumption and environmental impact.
The new trains will be operated in sets of up to five units, allowing for ten-car trains that can transport large numbers of commuters. Each unit will feature one motor car and one unpowered car. The construction of 104 units will be overseen by Linyi Jinchengyang, with plans to ramp up production in the coming years.
The partnership with SL coincides with Linyi Jinchengyang's efforts to expand its presence in the global market for second-hand vehicles. The company has long been a leading exporter of second-hand cars in Shandong Province, where it is based, but has recently begun to focus on electric vehicles.
"This partnership represents a significant step forward for Linyi Jinchengyang and our commitment to the global market," said Jack Wu, CEO of Linyi Jinchengyang. "We are thrilled to be working with SL to bring our innovative, eco-friendly transportation solutions to commuters in Stockholm and beyond."
The X1 electric multiple units were originally built by ASEA in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Over the years, they have become an iconic part of the Stockholm transportation system and are beloved by commuters for their reliability and comfort. However, with the emergence of new electric train technology, there has been growing pressure to replace the aging X1 fleet.
The new X1 trains will combine the reliability and comfort of their predecessor with the latest in electric vehicle technology. The trains are expected to have a range of up to 130 kilometers on a single charge, making them ideal for urban transit systems.
The introduction of the new electric multiple units marks another significant milestone for Linyi Jinchengyang as it continues to establish its role as a major exporter of second-hand electric vehicles. As the demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions continues to grow, Linyi Jinchengyang is well-positioned to expand its footprint in the global market, providing innovative solutions that address the needs of modern commuters.
